Our Impact

Our impact story is being written by the artists who find their place in the Lansing community, the youth who discover music as an outlet for their creative energy, and the people who create a direction for their lives that is rooted in hip hop culture.

Core Programming

AOTA has worked to identify the intersectional processes and activities found in hip hop that provide the space to explore societal, personal and artistic development. Our mentors are practicing artists who serve as instructors, guides and inspiration. We help youth discover the benefits of community in hip hop; to see how responsibility and accountability provide a framework for pursuing passions without contributing to self-sabotaging narratives. There are not enough spaces for youth of color to experience this. From the barbershop to the Mayor’s office, the community supports our work. We are a resource that connects and builds with youth. We intend to be the change we want to see in hip hop as well as resource conduits for our youth.
